Building your website
Designs, colours, sections, photographs and preview.
The Website screen has two halves — Design is how it looks, Content is what it says — and they are numbered in the order to do them.
- Design → Step 1, Choose a design. Seven layouts, each with its own typefaces. Pick the shape first; the colour comes next and any of them can be recoloured.
- Step 2, Choose a colour. Four palettes suit each layout, and the one it was drawn in is selected already and marked as the default.
- Step 3, Add your photograph. Upload one, then drag the marker onto the part that matters — the seven layouts crop it seven different ways, and whatever the marker is on stays in frame. Colour or black and white is a pair of buttons underneath.
- Content → Your sections. Thirteen to choose from. Drag a section by its handle to reorder it, press the pencil to rename its heading, and the bin to take it off. The Details and RSVP have no bin: a wedding site with no date and no way to reply is not a wedding site.
- Open a section to write it. Add a section at the foot of the list brings on any you have not used.
- Watch the preview beside you the whole way, and flip it between a phone and a desktop — most of your guests will read this on a phone.
There is no wrong order here and no hurry: nothing you write is visible to anybody until you press publish. Publishing your site is what changes when you do.
Choosing a design
Seven layouts, each with its own typefaces, and a curated set of colourways for each. The pairs are curated rather than a free choice on purpose: a colour that suits one layout's slab of ink does not suit another's fine italic, and every combination we offer has been checked for readable text.
You can change your mind at any point, before or after your invitations have gone out. Your address stays the same, so the links and QR codes you have already printed keep working.
Your photograph
Upload one on the Design tab. The seven layouts crop it differently, so there is a marker on the picture — drag it onto the part that matters and that part stays in frame whatever the crop. Colour or black and white is a pair of buttons underneath: Minimal is black and white unless you say otherwise, and any design can be either.
Sections
Thirteen to choose from, and you decide which appear and in what order — drag one by its handle to move it, and open one to write it. Two cannot be switched off: the details and the RSVP. A wedding site with no date and no way to reply is not a wedding site.
